Portland Urban Sketchers Scavenger Hunt 2019

I am excited to participate in the PDXUSK scavenger hunt 2019.

Here are the rules:
Get out and sketch as many things on the Scavenger Hunt List below (one item per sketch, please) and then post to the blog. The person with the most scavenger hunt items posted on the blog by the end of the day on April 30, 2019 will get a prize.

  • your neighborhood library (interior or exterior)
  • dogs in a dog park
  • spring blossoms
  • a MAX, streetcar or bus (interior or exterior) ✅
  • a heritage tree (map) ✅
  • a face from above or below
  • two people in conversation
  • a meal or snack (or the remains of one)
  • a Benson Bubbler ✅
  • an ink drawing, done without a pencil underlay
  • light media on a dark background
  • something under construction
  • someone drinking coffee ✅
  • an artwork at a MAX stop
  • something left over from the Louis & Clark Exposition 

So I am working on my list already. I will post my drawings here as well as the PDXUSK blog as well.

Well, the site is up and running... very exciting. I'm currently working on some new pieces to upload and I'm working on an idea for a children's book. So many ideas and so little ... hmmm motivation? I'm hoping to get into an Illustrator class this summer to hone my skills a little more. The Pain Continues: Day Two

Sunday I left my hotel and went directly to see the friendly faces of the bike mechanics at LL Bean's bike shop (which is open 24 hours a day every day of the year... just so you know). I was in search of a product that only bikers (and perhaps other stupid people that spend hours sitting on a tiny seat) know about.... Chamois Butter. Now if you have never needed the services of said product I won't go into details of it's use, but for those of you who know... this was an emergency. The boys of LL Bean were very helpful and full of understanding for my dilemma. Thanks guys!! The rest of my day was full of head winds and hills... my favorite, but also an amazing dish of crabcakes and later a fabulous Lobster Newburg... no calorie counting for me!!! I had a great time hanging out with Ms. Bethany Plissy and the very soft bed in her sister's house. So far so good. Oh, and Milage count: Day One: 67.5 miles Day Two: 48.5 miles Total: 116 Miles

Day Thirteen: The Kindness of Strangers

So this isn’t the journal entry for today but it looks really similar so here you are. There’s a neighbor of mine that is giving away flowers from her garden and after I took one vase full I made this painting as a thank you. I love that people are so naturally good.
